What Does the "D" in D-Day stand for? This is a credible website because it sites its resources, it relates to the history channel. http://www.worldwar2history.info/D-Day/D-in-D-Day.htlm The first website had a list of questions that would be answered about D-Day. It answered the question What Does the D in D-Day mean? The website explained it as not really standing for anything. However it did explain that it is referred to different operations and now only used to refer to the Allied landings in Normandy.
The second website had pictures from D-Day and explained what it meant that way. So, they explained it as being a military term. That the D stands for the day the operations started. They also explained the dash in between it. The dash means before combat started, if it had been a plus it would have meant after. The third website had explained similar ideas to the second website. That the D was a military term. |
