What was the London blitz?
The three websites I used:
1. The London Blitz,1940 This is credible website because it has references, hyperlinks that are active, and http://www.eyewitnesshistory.com/blitz.htm 2. The Blitz This is a credible website because it has hyperlinks that work, http://www.historyplace.com/worldwar2/timeline/about-blitz.htm 3. 1940 The Blitz Begins This is a credible website because it is by the history channel, it has an author, and it has videos. Also, other links that are related to this topic that are active. Plus it has a fact checker. http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/the-blitz-begins The first website explained what the London Blitz was. The London Blitz was the bombing campaign by Germany against London from September 1940- May 1941. They had chosen those cities because they were popular areas, factories and docks.
The second website had explained that bombing London was actually an accident. They were targeting military targets but the bombs drifted and destroyed the center of London. That then caused Churchill to believe that it was an attack and ordered bombing in Berlin the next day. That then made the Germans more angry sending it into more war. The third website explained that there were 300 German bombers in the first 57 nights. It explained the Hitler had wanted to strike the English after France so he would have no interference when he invaded the Soviet Union. It then explained how when the English found this out that the nation went into a state of emergency. |
